DCE was appointed to carry out the (Detailed Design - Stage 3) for Al Wa’ab City is in zone 55, Al Wa’ab area. The development is surrounded by two major corridors Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor and Salwa Road, from the southern and eastern side, respectively, and two main roads, Al Sidr and Snay Bu Hasa from the western and northern sides, respectively. The project was originally developed as a private compound, and it is currently in the process of being handed over to the municipality/PWA.
The site is served with on-street parking areas and a service access road for service/maintenance vehicles (Passenger, Bus, and Single Unit Truck) which provide easy, safe, and separate manoeuvring between mixed-use, commercial, and residential plots to join the site with the existing external road.
The project involves the design and analysis of seven roads in phase 1, classified as minor and major collectors, as outlined in the approved Traffic Impact Study (TIS) S1639-SEC- 14TR-RT-002-01. These roads play a key role in managing traffic flow within the area, ensuring efficient connectivity to the broader road network. The TIS figures provide detailed insights into traffic volumes, vehicle types, and peak hour conditions, guiding the design to accommodate current and future traffic demands.
