DCE were hired by WSP to carry out construction stage (Stage 4) RSAs for Lusail City.
The scope of this Road Safety Audit covers two roads within the city of Lusail in Qatar. These are Road A3 and Road A5.
Road A3 – this road is a 2 lane dual carriageway that is 3km in length. A tunnel is provided in the centre of this road that travels under the Lusail Plaza Project. The posted speed limit is 60kph. A tram line is present in the median. Street lighting is provided throughout the road. Pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths are part of the design but were not constructed at the time of this RSA. There are six signalised intersections provided along this road. The southern end of the road connects to Junction 10 on Road A5. The northern end of the road connects to Junction 3 on Road A2.
Road A5 – this road is a 3 lane dual carriageway that is 1.8km in length. The posted speed limit is 60kph at the eastern side and then increases to 70kph on the approach to Al Khor Expressway. Temporary street lighting has been provided. Pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths are part of the design but were not constructed at the time of this RSA. There are three signalised intersections provided along this road. The western end of the road has an underpass (at Junction 10) that connects to the Al Khor Expressway. The eastern end of the road connects to Junction 9 on Road A1-1. The roads to the south of Junction 10 are still under construction and are therefore not included within the scope of this RSA.
