DCE were hired to conduct preliminary design and detailed design road safety audits for Wadi Al Buhair Phase 1 & 2 in Bahrain.
Wadi Al Buhair is located in the Southern Governorate of Bahrain in the vicinity of the Riffa and Sanad districts. The site is about 600m to the east side of the Bahrain National Stadium. It is confined by the 16th December Avenue on the north side and Al Esteglal Highway to the north-east and eastern side.
Phase 1 consists of a combination of single carriageway local roads and 2-lane dual carriageways. The posted speeds on the local roads are 30kph and 50kph. The posted speed on the dual carriageways is 60kph. There is a large roundabout located in the middle of the scheme and 3 signalised intersections to the south east of the scheme.
Phase 2 consists mainly of single carriageway local roads with a posted speed limits of 30kph and 50kph. There are 4 roundabouts located within this phase. All other junctions are priority junctions.
The landuse is mostly residential villas with one school located in the north of the site.
